We gratefully accept unopened non-perishable food, packaged goods, toiletries and cleaning products, still-fresh vegetables, fruit and meat. Clean and good quality clothes are also accepted, however please enquire first as we have limited storage. If you would prefer to give money in support of our mahi, every cent will go directly towards doing good in our hood.

Deposits can be made to the following Kiwibank account: 38-9024-0076721-00. This account is held by our umbrella organisation and registered charity, I Love Avondale (charities register number: CC50366).

If you want your monetary donation to go towards a specific initiative, for example Kai Avondale or Eastdale Hub please put that in the deposit reference field.

Volunteer

We have many volunteer opportunities available within Kai Avondale.

You could help at our social supermarket, Free Guys; our weekly community dinner, Feed the Streets; a network of school Breakfast Clubs; or be part of collecting rescued food from local eateries and suppliers.

Utilise our Hub

Our Eastdale Hub in the carpark of Eastdale Reserve is set up for our community to use.

We especially welcome recreation, family and/or youth activities as the Hub sits alongside sports fields and courts, a playground and three schools. There are toilets, a kitchenette and office space, and we have a range of sports, play and other equipment onsite that you can use for your event or activity as well.

Mentor

Together with Upside Youth Mentoring, we are looking for people to become friends or big brothers/sisters to Avondale area students referred by their schools.

There is no formal programme to follow, it’s really about hanging out, having fun and getting to know your student over time. To apply or find out more details on what mentoring entails, please visit Upside online.

Create

We are always on the lookout for people to create content for our storytelling initiatives and social media.

Whether it’s photography, graphic design, videography, illustration, web design, storytelling or something else, hit us up if you have the skills and passion to celebrate our community. In some cases, there are paid opportunities available.
