We Are Woven
“We Are Woven” is a free event for everyone to come together and celebrate the colourful cultures of Avondale through dance, sound, food and soul. Brought to you by local creative producer Pono by Dom, Eke Panuku, Whau Local Board, Auckland Transport and us!
Crayford Street West will be transformed into a family friendly block party. The street will be car-free, opening up for people to walk, dance and mingle. Live performances on Crayford Street West by Te Whānau o Pātiki kapa haka, Tung Tek Lion Dance Association 同德醒獅團, Clan Celtica tribal Scottish band and Avondale born and raised MELODOWNZ.
GARETHXMF on the decks and RAW THAWT on the mic.
Avondale Primary School have welcomed us in to create a festival-like scene fit for bikes, scooters and roller skates. Live performances from Mhara Marimba, Caribbeanz Southern Stars and more from the stage on the school field. Our friends at Bike Avondale will host the inflatable UV dome and pop-up play zone on the field too.
Come through for the talent. For the celebration. Recognise and relish who we are – our differences and our alikeness.
Enjoy the mākete, food trucks, live muralling, cultural attire processions, bike and scooter pump track, free kai, hot choccy and face painting too… and more to be announced.
